What is commercial data cabling?

Commercial data cabling is the structured copper and fibre cabling infrastructure that connects network switches, access points, servers, and end devices across a commercial building or campus. It includes Cat6A horizontal runs, fibre backbone, patch panels, racks, and all associated pathways and labelling.

Why does cabling that passes inspection sometimes still fail under load?

Inspection checks presence and basic continuity. Certification tests performance: insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, and propagation delay under the conditions the cabling will actually face. Cabling can pass a visual inspection and still fail to support Gigabit or 10G traffic, PoE loads, or high-density Wi-Fi 6 deployments.

What's included in a commercial cabling audit and certification?

Our commercial cabling audit covers physical inspection of all copper and fibre links, performance testing to AS/NZS and TIA standards, identification of non-compliant or undocumented infrastructure, and a full certification report. We document what exists, what performs, and what needs remediation, before it becomes a network event.

Do you handle both copper and fibre in commercial installations?

Yes. We install, terminate, splice, and certify both Cat6A copper and single-mode or multimode fibre. OTDR testing and optical loss measurement are included on all fibre work. Single accountable partner for the complete Layer 1 scope.

What happens if undocumented cabling is found during a commercial fitout?

We audit and test it before it goes near your network. Undocumented cabling of unknown age, standard, or performance is a risk, not a resource.
