Commercial Data Cabling

Your cabling was certified once. Has it been tested since?

Independent testing and certification for existing commercial cabling. Copper and fibre validated under real load, not assumed fit because it was signed off years ago.

The problem with unvalidated cabling

Certified once is not certified now. Load changes the answer.

Commercial fit-outs move fast. Builders want sign-off, tenants want to move in, and testing is one of the first corners cut. The result is infrastructure that passed a basic continuity check years ago and has never been tested against what it actually carries today.

We have tested hundreds of commercial sites where cabling looked fine on paper. Cat5e sold as Cat6A. Untested patch panels. No as-built documentation. Nobody knows what is running where until something fails at the worst possible time.

AAA Communications has delivered Layer 1 infrastructure across Sydney and Australia since 1992. We test to AS/CA S009, certify with Fluke and OTDR, and hand over evidence that reflects what is actually in the wall, not what was assumed at install.

Between 20 and 40 percent of tested brownfield structured cabling has at least one performance fault that visual inspection alone would never find. Testing reveals what assumption hides.

What we deliver

Commercial cabling testing. Under real load.

Copper Certification (Fluke)

Cat6/6A performance testing against AS/CA S009. Every run, every port, checked for near-end crosstalk, return loss, insertion loss, length and continuity.

Fibre Certification (OTDR)

OTDR testing and optical loss measurement for single mode and multimode fibre. Splice quality, connector loss and fault location to the metre, not a guess.

Gap Analysis

Where testing finds cabling that is underperforming, we document exactly where and why. Evidence for leadership, for a vendor, or to scope a targeted fix.

Remediation Scoping

If testing surfaces a real problem, the fix gets scoped separately. You decide whether to proceed. No pressure to bundle testing and remediation into one number.

Before

Undocumented. Unvalidated. Unacceptable.

Infrastructure no one can account for, until it fails.

Certified and documented cabling after AAA Communications remediation
After

Certified. Documented. Built to perform.

Every port labelled. Every run tested. No surprises.

How we work

Scope, install, certify. No surprises.

1

Site Assessment

We walk the site, understand the load requirements and scope the work against what the infrastructure actually needs to support, not just what the spec sheet says.

2

Design & Scope

Cabling design, pathway planning, rack layout and materials schedule. Delivered before a single cable is pulled. You know what you're getting before we start.

3

Installation

Delivered by ARC licensed cablers on live commercial environments. We work around your operation, after hours, staged rollouts, or full building fit-out during construction.

4

Certification & Handover

Every run tested, every port labelled, full OTDR trace and certification documentation. As-built drawings that reflect reality, not the original design intent.

Where we work

Commercial environments where uptime isn't optional.

Office Fit-Outs & Tenancy Upgrades

New tenancy builds, floor refits and end-of-lease remediations. Cat6A horizontal cabling, comms room build and full documentation for handover.

Multi-Floor Commercial Buildings

Backbone fibre between floors, horizontal copper per level, centralised comms room. Coordinated delivery across occupied floors without disrupting tenants.

Health & Medical Facilities

Clinical-grade cabling for hospital wards, medical centres and aged care. Standards-compliant, infection-control aware, delivered on live clinical environments.

Retail & Hospitality

High-density Wi-Fi infrastructure, EFTPOS cabling, POS network drops and back-of-house comms room. Delivered to trading timelines.

Industrial & Manufacturing

Hardened cabling for factory floors, warehouses and process environments. Armoured fibre, industrial-grade copper and pathway solutions built for the conditions.

Education & Government

Campus network cabling, classroom drops and data centre interconnects. AS/CA S009 compliant with full audit trail for compliance reporting.

Questions, Answered

Commercial data cabling FAQs.

What's the difference between a cabling audit and a full certification test?

An audit is a visual and documentation review, what's there, is it labelled, does it match the as-builts. Certification testing is instrumented, every run measured against standard with a Fluke or OTDR result attached.

How long does testing take?

Depends on port count and site access. A single floor commercial fitout typically runs one to two days on site. Results and a findings report follow within five business days.

Do you test fibre as well as copper?

Yes. OTDR testing and optical loss measurement on single mode and multimode fibre, alongside Fluke copper certification. One report, one accountable partner.

What happens if the testing finds a fault?

You get a findings report showing exactly what failed and where. Remediation is scoped and quoted as a separate engagement. No obligation to proceed.

Is this only for cabling you installed?

No. Independent testing on existing cabling installed by anyone, vendor neutral, evidence based. If you need a result to hand to leadership or push back to a vendor, that's what this is for.
